I have struggled with weight issues for most of my life. I'd lose some, then gain it and more back every time. I have tried it all: fasting, Weight Watchers, NutriSystem, Herbalife, Slimfast, Adkins, South Beach... you name a fad diet in the past 30 years and I have probably tried it and FAILED! In late December 2021 my wife and I moved to Oklahoma City for work. I looked at this as a 'fresh new start' and I decided that I was going to start a new diet/lifestyle just after the first of the year and so on January 10, 2022, I made the change I needed to and that lasted about a month. I struggled HARD to lose weight. In April of that year I hurt my right knee really bad and had to see a specialist about that. He gave me this look after checking out my knee, and then he looked away towards the wall. He did this a couple times until *I* finally said to him, "Doc are you telling me I need to lose weight?" and he replied something fancy that essentially meant "YES!!". That started me right there on a journey. I **HAD** to lose weight. He was the FIRST ever doc to tell me that, so this would be my motivation... however, a stop by Taco Bell on the way home first was needed since I would be 'going without'. Over the next 4 months I lost and maintained a loss of just 35lbs when I finally set up an appointment with my new Primary Care Physician. I dreaded that appointment as I just knew that she would want to talk about weight and sure enough, about 15 minutes into it she asked me about my weight and if I was interested in losing it. I told her "it's not like I enjoy having it, Doc". She then mentioned Mounjaro to me and I fought her on it immediately. I told her I didn't want to inject into my body something that wasn't meant for it, being that Mounjaro was a medicine for those with Type 2 Diabetes, and I didn't have that. She understood and eventually talked me into trying it. I gave in, reluctantly, and I agreed to 3 months. I told her that if it didn't work in 3 months, I don't want to hear anything else from her again about my weight. That I would give it my best for those 3 months and if it fails, it fails and nothing else can be said. I took my first Mounjaro shot around 9:15am on September 2, 2022 and I weighed 560lbs at that time. Videos on this channel detail my journey from then until now as I have lost over 170lbs since that first shot, even though I have not been able to take the medication as prescribed for various reasons, one being cost. This medicine really is life changing and these videos are the story of how Mounjaro changed my life for the better....

Did you know that naltrexone, also referred to as low dose naltrexone, can help with weight loss? It's actually an effective weight loss medication provided that it is used in the right way. LDN or naltrexone or low dose naltrexone (all names for the same medicine) is typically used to treat alcohol dependence. But it was found that it can also be used to treat autoimmune conditions. Then later it was found that LDN also seems to have some weight loss properties. LDN has very few side effects and it works through a different mechanism compared to other medications which makes it a great add-on for many people. AS ALWAYS, make sure that you use LDN with OTHER weight loss therapies such as diet, exercise, and so on. Using it in this way is obviously the best. We are going to discuss 6 ways that LDN (or low dose naltrexone) can help with weight loss: #1. Naltrexone targets insulin resistance. Insulin resistance is one of the primary drivers of weight gain and obesity in MANY people. Up to 50% of people in the US suffer from insulin resistance in some form. LDN helps to drive down insulin levels which can help with weight loss. #2. Naltrexone increases growth hormone. Some studies show that naltrexone can also increase or normalize growth hormone levels. And because growth hormone helps maintain muscle mass and fat mass in balance, it will help manage weight. #3. Naltrexone modulates your appetite. Naltrexone also helps to MODULATE your appetite. Notice I said modulate and not suppress. It actually helps to reduce cravings for foods you shouldn't be eating and it helps you to eat the normal amount of calories you should be each day (instead of overeating). #4. Naltrexone reduces inflammation. Naltrexone ALSO helps to lower inflammation. Inflammation is a driver of fat cell dysfunction and weight gain by itself. So if you reduce inflammation you will help with weight loss indirectly. This reduction in inflammation is also why LDN is often used to treat autoimmune conditions. #5. Even if you’re in great shape, you’ll probably still struggle during your first couple of workouts on the stair machine. But even though it’s hard, and we know it burns lots of calories, can the StairMaster actually help you get the results you want? Let’s take a look at 4 big changes you’ll notice in your body after just a month or so of working out on the stair machine at the gym. --- Increased Stamina On average, a stair machine is far steeper than even the most intimidating hills — you’re practically climbing straight up! That’s why, even if you’re moving slowly, the stairmaster is quite a bit more difficult than most treadmill workouts. But the good news is that stair climbing workouts are incredibly effective at building stamina and endurance. In one recent study, participants who exclusively worked out on the StairMaster saw a 17% increase in their cardio thresholds in just 8 weeks. So it’s safe to say if you can stick with the stair machine for a month or more, you’ll definitely notice huge improvements to your conditioning. --- Weight Loss When it comes to calorie burn, it’s tough to do better than the StairMaster. You could burn up to 820 calories per hour on the machine, though it’s doubtful many of us could last that long. Still, when it comes to calorie burn — which is a huge driver of fat loss — the StairMaster is right up there with the rowing machine and high-intensity running. It’s generally considered safe and attainable to lose 1 to 2 pounds per week, so in a month of work on the stair machine, you could lose up to 6 or 8 pounds. Expect noticeable differences in your core strength and all of the major leg muscles, including your hamstrings, calves, and quads — even after only a month or so. Some trainers say that the StairMaster doesn’t activate your glutes as much as real stairs, so if you’re looking to build your booty, you might want to incorporate some extra glute exercises with traditional weights. --- Better bone health The high resistance nature of stair machine workouts can lead to one benefit you won’t see with your eyes: Increased bone mass. As we age, our bone density and overall mass start to degrade, which can lead to a number of health issues. All forms of exercise are good for promoting bone health, but usually strength training offers more potent benefits than cardio. The StairMaster, though, is the exception. Though you won’t see or even feel the difference, regular stair climbing workouts will do wonders for the long term health of the bones in your lower body.
