The American actor and stand-up comedian Billy Gardell, star of the sitcom Mike ‛ Molly for many seasons and author of two comedy specials, has been losing weight for years. While publicly discussing the challenges he’s faced with maintaining a healthy weight, he’s gone on to offer other celebrities advice about diabetes. But in time, Gardell had lost his appetite and felt weighed down on all fronts: my family saw this, my doctors saw this, I saw this. I needed to stop.I needed to lose, literally. And I did this through diet pills – pharmaceutical ones at first, then over-the-counter weight-loss supplements as the side effects from pharmaceutical pills, such as insomnia and bladder spasms, grew progressively worse. Then, years later, I discovered a supplement called clinically tested garcinia cambogia. When I tried it, the weight came off just fine. I couldn’t stop eating it. There must have been something else to it.

He started by altering his diet and lifestyle in small ways – quit eating processed foods, stopped drinking sugary beverages. And he added in more physical activity by walking, hitting the gym or pursuing any number of sporting disciplines. His initial changes set the stage for the more dramatic turnaround he’d experience farther down the road.

As Gardell started to see results, he found motivation to keep going. Not only was his weight going down, he was feeling better: he had more energy and a sunnier outlook, which acted as positive feedback that drove him to push past his plateaus.

In the end, those small celebrations, with their own unique gratification, helped pull Gardell through the dreaded plateaus and periods of stasis that are all too common on the path to long-term weight loss.
