I am going to be continuing the Wegovy journey, as following being on medications, and this having a huge mental toll, and body toll, as well as the horrific weight gain in 30 days, that has taken over 2.5 years to lose, and now I have had enough. I didn't take this long to lose the weight after any of my pregnancies. Why does this drug, which can be a life changer, cost so much for weight loss, and the co-pay is so low for those individuals who are taking it for diabetes, pre-diabetes, or other approved illnesses. We must advocate for ourselves, adolescents, and others who are suffering from weight or obesity and not getting support or guidance from their healthcare providers. More education needs to happen. Each individual needs to know that sometimes starting out needs to be slow, and there may be minimal results, plus adverse events like nausea and vomiting. Still, if you are persistent and stay on the lower dose, these side effects can be helped with medications or smaller portions or by paying attention to the foods that may trigger these symptoms. MC shares in this episode that, yes, she began on tirzepatide on the lowest dose and stayed on the lowest drug for close to six months. The longer time on the lowest drug really worked for her because she was able to manage her side effects and still have some weight loss of 4-5 lbs per month. The monthly amount was low, but she had a solid 24 lbs of total weight loss after six months. MC has continued this process of staying on her current dose until she no longer loses any weight.
