It happens way moreLosing weight and Losing friends -- Howoften than I believe it should, but it’s something we have to address and something we have to talk about. So if you’re on a weight loss journey right now or you’re getting ready to embark on one, I really want you to think about this. Think about it deeply. Imagine yourself at your ideal weight. How would people act? How would people treat you? A lot of the times we automatically go to being “thinner” equals being better, more successful, sexier, so on and so forth, but I want you to go a little deeper. I want you to do a journaling assignment. I want you to set the timer for 15 minutes and I want you to write over and over again “being healthy and fit means… being healthy and fit means…” Write this over and over. Now here’s the key — you HAVE to do it for the whole entire time, because it’s around minute 12, 13, and 14 that you will get to the deeper emotional stuff and being fearful that you might lose some friends if you lose weight might come up. Here’s what to do — you have to reevaluate people who are closest to you. The truth is, is that true friends want what’s best for you. Five years ago when I was starting my coaching business, and I was embarking on all new adventures, I was really shocked how many of my “friends” really didn’t support me and I had to have conversations with them and say, “This is where I want my life to go. This is where I see things going, and if you don’t support me in that, then we’re probably just going to have to part ways here, and we can love each other from afar.” These were not easy conversations. I was so nervous. My coach had to really talk me through them and really get me mentally prepared for both sides of the coin on if they said “Yes I support you” or “I’m just gonna go my own way,” but it’s a conversation that needs to be had. You need to surround yourself with people who will lift you higher, because if you are surrounding yourself with people who are going to judge you and bring you down, you will never lose weight for the long term, ever. You know what? You deserve to lose weight and you deserve to have amazing friends who want the best for you. If you become a millionaire, if you become a fitness model, any of those things, they need to support you whichever way your life turns. If people are popping into your mind right now, of those who aren’t those people, you either need to have a hard conversation with them, you totally need to do it. I know it’s hard, but as your coach, I’m telling you, you need to do it, or you need to really start separating back. Now eventually if you start separating, they’ll probably ask you, “Hey, what’s been going on?” and then the hard conversation is going to have to come at that point. Now, just because I believe in not just watching these videos, but actually taking action, I want you to do something with me right now. Intermittent fasting is a tool. It’s not a diet, it doesn’t tell you what to eat, and it’s not about cutting calories. It’s a pattern of eating and not eating. It’s changing when you eat and when you don’t eat.  Intermittent fasting is one of the most important factors when it comes to weight loss. It influences two main hormones in the body: 1. Stimulates growth hormone (anti-aging and fat burning)  2. Decreases insulin (in the presence of insulin you can’t lose weight) Intermittent fasting can help heal insulin resistance. This is a situation where the pancreas is pumping out way more insulin than you need. This can be a very destructive condition.  With intermittent fasting, it’s best to start slow and gradually fast for longer lengths of time. For example, if you consume 5 or 6 meals a day, you may want to start by doing 3 meals a day and cutting out snacks. After that, you may want to do a pattern of 16 hours of fasting with an 8-hour eating window. It’s ideal to go at least 4 hours after you wake up before your first meal. The real power of intermittent fasting happens at night while you’re sleeping and in the morning.  To take it to the next level, you would want to gradually go to two meals per day. You would do 20 hours of fasting with a four-hour eating window.
